Welcome to the Samburu Project Online!
This site was set up to
help the Samburu in their fight against poverty and privation. All
the proceeds of the sales go directly to the Women of Umoja Village.
A commune consiting of only Women who formed themselves into a pro-active
group to voice their concerns about womens rights in kenya. The village
supports women who have been tortured, beaten and raped. They also
help to raise children who have been abandoned, orphaned or suffer
from Aids.
Every penny from the sales
of the handmade articles, that they produce themselves, goes to them.
Each item is crafted and designed by the women who work under the
shade of the Village tree. Which they sit under in the blazing heat
of the African sun. Together we can build the School, Hospital and
Visitor Centre that they so badly need.
